Is Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend recalled?

Yes — and the recall grew on October 2, 2026. Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. added two more lots of Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend 10 oz, three lots of Great Value Organic Blueberries 10 oz and one lot of Trader Joe’s Organic Mixed Berry Blend 12 oz to its frozen berry recall for possible E. coli O145:H28. The lot first recalled in September (6040 01-6) is still included. Check the UPC, lot and date below; if they match, don’t eat the berries.

Recalled products, UPCs and lot codes

A bag is included only when the UPC, lot code and date all match one row. Great Value lot codes are printed on the front of the package; the Trader Joe’s lot code is on the back.

• Recalling firm: Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A., San Carlos, Chile
• Hazard: E. coli O145:H28, a Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC). The notice says it can cause severe stomach cramps, diarrhea (which may be bloody) and vomiting, and sometimes hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a serious complication, especially in young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems.
• What to do: don’t eat it; discard it or return it to Walmart or Trader Joe’s for a full refund.

Outbreak status and how the recall grew

• July 2026: the firm recalled one lot of frozen GreenWise organic blueberries on July 3, and Publix recalled all GreenWise Organic frozen Whole Blueberries and Whole Mixed Berries (10 oz and 48 oz) sold in eight states.
• September 2, 2026: one lot of Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend (6040 01-6) added. That notice said no illnesses were associated with this specific product.
• September 21, 2026: CDC declared the outbreak over. FDA counts 17 illnesses in Florida and Georgia, 6 hospitalizations and no deaths; its investigation is complete.
• October 2, 2026: more Great Value Triple Berry lots, Great Value Organic Blueberries and one Trader Joe’s lot added, as a precaution after traceback linked to the blueberries in the first recall.

An outbreak being over doesn’t make the bags safe. FDA notes that recalled product has dates running into 2028, so check your freezer.

How to check your bag

Match the UPC, the lot code and the date together. The Great Value Organic Blueberries lot 6 040 01 and the Triple Berry lot 6040 01-6 look alike but are different products, so check the UPC too. Lots that aren’t in the table aren’t named in the notices. You can search the Triple Berry UPC, search the Blueberries UPC or use the lot number recall checker, then confirm against the FDA announcements.
