Which Walmart Expert Grill brushes are recalled?

Five Expert Grill products are recalled: four wire-bristle brushes and one 10-piece grill tool set, all listed by model number in CPSC recall 27-010.

CPSC didn’t publish UPCs or per-item prices; it lists a $1–$28 price range for all five, sold January 2021 through August 2026 overall. Source: CPSC, Oct. 1, 2026. Photos: see CPSC’s notice. Record on this site: CPSC record 27-010.

How to find the model number on your grill brush

1. Look on the packaging or on a sticker or tag attached to the brush (CPSC).
2. Compare the model number digit by digit with the table. The numbers are 12–15 characters and start with EX or XG.
3. Check the description: an Expert Grill brush with metal wire or steel-fiber bristles, a black plastic or stainless-steel handle, and sometimes a metal scraper (CPSC).
4. No box and no sticker? CPSC identifies these brushes by model number. If you can’t find one on your Expert Grill wire brush, call Walmart at 800-925-6278 before you throw it away or keep using it.

Not Expert Grill? Cuisinart: see below. Weber or Nexgrill: other brands. Any other brand: search CPSC recalls by brand.

Are wire grill brushes dangerous? What CPSC says

CPSC: “Small metal wire bristles can detach from the brushes and stick to the grill or food, posing an ingestion hazard and risk of serious internal injuries that could require surgery.”

For the Walmart Expert Grill recall, CPSC lists no incidents or injuries (“None reported”).

• Cuisinart (CPSC 26-601 / 26-717): “Conair is aware of at least 54 reports and reviews where small wire bristles detached from the grill brushes, including three reports of consumers who swallowed metal bristles and sought medical treatment to remove the bristles from their digestive tract or throat.”
• Weber (CPSC 26-282): at least 38 reports and reviews, including four reports of consumers who swallowed metal bristles.
• Nexgrill (CPSC 26-339): at least 68 reports and reviews, including five reports of consumers who swallowed metal bristles.

This page isn’t medical advice. If you think you or someone else swallowed a bristle, contact a doctor.

Cuisinart grill brushes sold at Walmart are recalled too

Yes. Conair recalled about 3,625,800 Cuisinart wire-bristle grill brushes in two steps (July 2 and Aug. 27, 2026), and CPSC now says all Cuisinart wire bristle grill brushes are included. CPSC’s expanded notice lists Walmart among the stores that sold them.

• Sold at (26-717): Walmart, Burlington, TJ Maxx and Ross and online including Amazon and Cuisinart.com from June 2009 through March 2026 for between $8 and $20. Walmart’s recall page lists both Cuisinart grill brush recalls as sold at Walmart stores and Walmart.com.
• How to identify: the word “Cuisinart” is stamped on the brush handle, except FCB-501 and CCB-395, where the handle is not stamped. Model numbers are on the product packaging.
• Also in sets: Premium Grill 10 Piece set (CGS-2010), 13 Piece Wooden Handle Grill Tool Set (CGS-W13), 14 Piece Deluxe Stainless Steel Grill Set (CGS-5014) and 20 Piece Deluxe Grill Set (CGS-5020).

CPSC: “Consumers should stop using the recalled grill brushes immediately and contact Conair for a full refund or a credit for use at Cuisinart.com for a full refund plus 20% of the cash refund amount. Consumers will be asked to discard the recalled grill brushes.”

In plain terms: choose a full cash refund, or a Cuisinart.com credit worth the refund plus 20%.
