A damaged front power-seat switch can stay engaged and keep the seat motor running, even after you leave the car. The motor can overheat and cause a fire while parked or driving. NHTSA advises owners to park outdoors and away from other vehicles or structures until the repair is done. A fix is still under development. It will be free, and owner letters are expected to be mailed December 7, 2026.
