NHTSA vehicle recall 26V621000 · Ram 92D
Is my Ram ProMaster under the power steering recall?
Certain ProMaster vans are recalled — check your VIN. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling 265,512 vans: certain 2022–2026 ProMaster 1500, 2500 and 3500 models, plus 2024–2026 ProMaster 3500 EV models. Water can enter the electric power steering wiring harness and disable steering assist, increasing crash risk.

Check your VIN first
A model year or production date does not prove that your van is included. NHTSA lists October 6, 2026 as the date this campaign’s VINs became searchable. Use the official VIN lookup to check your vehicle for an unrepaired recall, or contact a dealer with your VIN and recall number 92D.
A year, make and model search lists campaigns that may apply; it does not confirm whether your particular vehicle still needs repair. Our NHTSA recall check guide explains the lookup’s limits and what its results mean.
Which ProMasters are in the recall?
The manufacturer’s Part 573 report identifies the following groups. These are potentially involved vehicles, not counts of failures or crashes. Model year and production year are different.
| Model years / vehicle | Production dates | Vehicles |
|---|---|---|

What is wrong with the steering?
Water intrusion can cause corrosion inside the electric power steering (EPS) wiring harness. Corrosion can cause intermittent or permanent loss of power steering assist, producing inconsistent steering effort and increasing crash risk.
There may be no advance warning. The manufacturer reports no warning before failure, although the EPS fault warning light may illuminate when steering assist is lost. Do not treat the absence of a warning light as proof that the defect is absent.
Is the repair free, and when will it be ready?
Dealers will inspect and replace the wiring harness and EPS gear as necessary, free of charge. The report says the replacement harness has improved sealing to prevent water intrusion.
- Dealer notification: planned for October 6, 2026.
- Interim owner notification: planned for November 17–23, 2026, to explain the safety risk.
- Final remedy notification: additional letters will follow when the final remedy is available. The checked documents do not give a final date.
The November mailing is not a confirmed repair appointment or remedy availability date. Contact a Ram dealer or Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403 and ask about 92D / 26V621000 for your VIN. Follow their current instructions about the vehicle and repair arrangements.
What to do after a vehicle recall
Have there been crashes or injuries?
In the September 29, 2026 Part 573 report, FCA said it was aware of one accident and no injuries potentially related to this issue across all markets. This is the manufacturer’s reported count at that time, not a claim that every incident has been identified.
Common questions
Is every 2022–2026 ProMaster recalled?
No. This campaign covers certain vehicles in the model and production groups above. Only a vehicle-specific check can establish whether your van has an open recall requiring repair.
Can I check before the owner letter arrives?
Yes. The campaign lists VINs as searchable from October 6, 2026. Check on NHTSA and contact the dealer to discuss the current remedy status instead of waiting for the planned November mailing.
Is there a “do not drive” or “park outside” instruction?
The NHTSA campaign API has neither flag set as of October 13, 2026. That does not establish that a van with steering trouble is safe to drive. Ask the dealer or Chrysler for instructions about your vehicle; follow any later official advisory.
Does this cover other ProMaster recalls?
This page covers only the power steering campaign 26V621000 / 92D. Other campaigns have their own affected vehicles and remedies. Check your VIN for all outstanding recalls.
