CHE-US Magnetic Stick Figures Immediately Safety Warning: Magnet Ingestion

CPSC Warns Consumers to Stop Using CHE-US Magnetic Stick Figures Immediately Due to Risk of Serious Injury or Death from Magnet Ingestion; Violate Mandatory Standard for Toys

Is this a recall or a safety warning?

This is a CPSC safety warning. It does not establish a manufacturer-agreed recall or remedy. Stop using the affected product and follow the official warning’s disposal and safety instructions. Check the linked notice for updates.

Why was there a safety warning for CHE-US Magnetic Stick Figures Immediately?

The magnetic stick figures violate the mandatory standard for toys because when pulled apart, the figures’ arms and legs liberate magnets that are stronger than permitted and fit within CPSC’s small parts cylinder, posing a risk of serious injury or death if ingested by children. When high-powered magnets are swallowed, the ingested magnets can attract each other, or other metal objects, and become lodged in the digestive system. This can result in perforations, twisting, and/or blockage of the intestines, blood poisoning and death.

What should I do if I have this product?

CPSC urges consumers to stop using the magnetic stick figure toys immediately and dispose of them. Do not sell or give away these hazardous products.

Product description

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to stop using CHE-US Magnetic Robot Toys immediately. The magnetic stick figures violate the mandatory standard for toys because they contain loose magnets posing an ingestion hazard to children. When high-powered magnets are swallowed, the ingested magnets can attract each other, or other metal objects, and become lodged in the digestive system. This can result in perforations, twisting, and/or blockage of the intestines, blood poisoning and death. CPSC urges consumers to stop using the toys immediately and dispose of them. Do not sell or give away these hazardous products. CPSC issued a Notice of Violation to the seller, Guangzhou Shian Trading Co., Ltd., doing business as CHE-US/CHESLICR, of China. CHE-US/CHESLICR has not agreed to an acceptable recall of these magnetic robot figures. This warning involves CHE-US magnetic stick figure toys. The robot-shaped stick figures were sold in sets of five or 10 in purple, blue, yellow, red and green. Each stick figure has four small magnets, one in each hand and foot. X004N3MGCB is printed on the back of the product packaging.
