Why was there a safety warning for Reliancer Adult Portable Bed Rails Immediately?

Product description

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to stop using Reliancer bed rails immediately because they violate the mandatory standard for adult portable bed rails, posing a deadly risk of entrapment and asphyxiation. When the bed rails are attached to a bed, users can become entrapped within the bed rail or between the bed rail and the side of the mattress. In addition, the bed rails do not meet the structural stability or retention strap requirements, posing a fall hazard. In addition, the bed rails do not bear the required hazard warning labels. CPSC urges consumers to stop using the bed rails immediately and dispose of them. Do not sell or give away these hazardous products. CPSC issued a Notice of Violation to the retailer, Ningbo Beitao Trading Co., Ltd., doing business as Reliancer, of China. Reliancer has not responded to CPSC requests to conduct a recall or offer a remedy for the bed rails to consumers. This warning involves Reliancer-branded adult portable bed rails. The bed rails have white tubing with black foam rubber handle grips and a black storage pocket. The bed rails measure about 26.4 inches wide by 38.6 inches tall and weigh about 5 pounds. “Reliancer” is printed on the bed rail’s storage pocket.
