Which blood pressure medications are recalled in 2026?
As of October 19, 2026, FDA’s 2026 Enforcement Reports list recalls of certain lots of metoprolol succinate ER (Teva, Ascend), amlodipine/olmesartan (Ascend), chlorthalidone (Inventia), clonidine patches (Teva), furosemide, bisoprolol/HCTZ and Diovan (valsartan) 160 mg. All of the FDA-listed ones are Class II, mostly for tablets that failed dissolution specifications or for impurity or manufacturing (CGMP) problems. Only specific lots are affected. Check the NDC and lot number on your pharmacy label or the manufacturer’s bottle. Don’t stop taking your blood pressure medicine on your own. Call your pharmacist, who can tell you whether your fill came from a recalled lot and swap it if needed.

Telmisartan / amlodipine: reported, not yet in FDA data
Third-party recall trackers have reported a telmisartan/amlodipine recall. As of October 19, 2026 we could not find it in FDA’s published enforcement data or in an official company notice, so we don’t list details here. We’ll add it if FDA publishes it.
How to find the NDC and lot number on your pill bottle
- Manufacturer’s bottle or carton: the NDC is printed on the label, and the lot number is usually next to the expiration date.
- Pharmacy-filled bottle: the label may show the NDC or the manufacturer but often not the lot. Ask your pharmacist which manufacturer and lot they dispensed.
More: where to find a lot number · search all FDA drug recalls
Should I stop taking it?
No. Don’t stop taking your blood pressure medicine without talking to your pharmacist or doctor. Ask your pharmacist whether your fill came from a recalled lot; Ascend’s letter, for example, says its recall is being carried out to the RETAIL level.
What “failed dissolution” and “Class II” mean
Failed dissolution: in testing, the tablet didn’t release its drug the way its specification requires. Ascend says delayed dissolution “may delay the onset of the drug’s pharmacological action.”
Class II (FDA): a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote. See FDA Enforcement Reports.
