Cracks can appear in the starter ring gears, causing ring gear fragmentation at high speeds. The debris can act as a projectile, causing injury or death to riders or bystanders.

Consumers with recalled snowmobiles are being sent direct notice from BRP. Consumers should stop using these vehicles immediately and contact a local Ski-Doo dealer to schedule an appointment for a free repair. The recall involves all models and packages of the Model Years 2005 and 2006 Mach Z and all models and packages of the Model Year 2006 MX Z Renegade 1000 Ski-Doo® snowmobiles. The Mach Z model was available in black and the MXZ model was available in black or yellow. Model name is located on the side panels.
